What is Phoenix Training...

Phoenix Training is a personal training/small group training studio.  Created because a big gym isn’t a good fit for everybody, machines and equipment can be scary to use if you’ve never tried them, and the best results come with guidance, encouragement, and a plan.  Let us help YOU break whatever barriers are standing in your way - whether they are long-held insecurities, lack of experience, plateaus you can’t break on your own, wanting to learn a new skill but not knowing where to start or how to get there, or whatever else is holding you back - it’s time for you to rise.

Who is Phoenix Training?

I am not one of those people who was “always into fitness” (I feel like personal trainers have been told that’s what they NEED to say, but in my case it just isn’t true).  I didn’t find fitness until after motherhood and had an urgent need to get my mind, body, and health RIGHT for my daughter.  Ive had a lot of body image issues since an illness brought me close to death in 2003 (look up Necrotizing Fasciitis for some gnarly pictures of those with similar experiences) and was used to hiding my body, but faced new challenges as a MOTHER and didn’t want to share those insecurities.  I found a FIRE inside when I found the barbell.  Yes I ran races, yes I did at home programs, I tried it all, but when I lifted that barbell off the ground for the first time I felt like a piece of me came alive that hadn’t ever existed before.  I became OBSESSED with making this newfound hobby my lifestyle and to live by example for those around me.

My sincere goal is to help others find that same FIRE for self improvement that I found.  Whether its at the barbell, like me, or simply feeling stronger, more powerful, and more confident.

FAQ

Who is Phoenix Training for?

Shapes are just that - shapes!  You don’t need to be at any fitness level to work with us.  We love helping beginners just as much as anyone else.  Or even if you’re beginning AGAIN.  Women, men, even youths (we specialize in youth from 8-18). Want to improve your golf game?  Want to learn to use a barbell for the first time?  Want to tackle some big fears?  We’re here for ALL of it.

What type of training do you do?

Because of the PERSONAL nature of our coaching, our training will look very different from one person to the next.  We will evaluate your goals, fitness level, and what you enjoy to find the best routines for you! Whether you want to increase range of motion, improve chronic knee pain, lift weights for the first time, hit some personal records, learn new skills, improve your cardiovascular health, lose weight, gain some serious muscle, or just have some fun and relieve some stress we promise to help you reach your goals.

We LOVE functional fitness, resistance training, weightlifting, Olympic lifting, sports performance, and balance/stability training.  YES we do cardio, but if you're looking for 45 minutes of burpees or a cardio machine, we are not it.

What do I need to bring?

The only requirements for YOU are an open mind, comfortable clothes you can move in, and a pair of clean sneakers.  Water bottles are recommended or we will have them for sale if you forget!  We have sweat towels for you to use if needed.

What can I expect during my first one on one session?

Your first session will include more talking than normal, but we will also make sure you get a workout in too!  We will take you through a fitness assessment and health history so we can personalize your experience.  We will chat about what goals you have, what your time investment will be, and how we can best serve you to meet those needs.  This is the perfect time to bring up any old injuries, health concerns, etc. with your trainer.  We ask that you don’t hold back - we’d rather get TOO MUCH INFO than not enough.  So, when in doubt, please share.  Things might get a little personal… but that’s why its PERSONAL training.  From there, we’ll make a plan for your training, and talk about things like nutrition, sleep, stress, and all those other things that are part of the secret sauce of health success.  Our goal is for you to leave feeling excited, a little sweaty, and most of all, ENCOURAGED.  Your courage brought you in the door - that’s something to celebrate!  Now lets tackle those GAINS!

What about my kids?

Children have a place at Phoenix Training too!  If you don’t have childcare, your kids are welcome at the studio in our “kids only” space with free internet access, art supplies, and toys.  We never want kids to be the EXCUSE you can’t come work out.  We want them to be the REASON you come work out, and understand that some days it just means they need to come with.

For some children, being with their parents might be more enjoyable (and for the parents too!).  In that case, we are happy to do a parent-child duo session for the same price as your normal session.

Do you offer classes?

While we don't have regularly scheduled classes, we do offer semi-private training sessions, which are SO much fun.  Price is a fraction of our personal training hourly rate per person, and you can bring up to 3 friends or family members with you, on a time schedule that works best for YOU.  We will customize the workouts you do based on number in your party, fitness levels, and goals as best as we can to accommodate each person in your group.

Do you offer any other services?

We are proud to offer nutrition and lifestyle coaching for those who want to take a more holistic approach to their health goals.  Whether you're trying to lose weight, or want to gain some mass, or feel better, we offer monthly coaching packages as an add-on service or stand alone option.  Coaching can be done in-person or remotely, via Zoom or phone.

I'm ready! How do I sign up?

We'd love you to book a free consult with us first - that way we can get to know what your goals are and personalize your experience.  We'll match you with a coach (or team of coaches), a schedule that works for you, and create a plan based on your goals. Consults are only 30 minutes and you can wear your street clothes.  We won't be moving during this session, just getting to know each other!
