What is Phoenix Training?

Phoenix Training is a personal training studio specializing in one-one and small-group training. Created because big gyms with a plethora of equipment and machines can be daunting, we focus on what works best for you. We believe the best results come with guidance, encouragement, and a plan. Let us help you break down your barriers, whether they be long-held insecurities, lack of experience, scheduling, accountability, or wanting to learn a new skill but not knowing how to start, whatever has been holding you back. It’s time for you to RISE!

Who We Are

I am not someone who was “always into fitness”. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I felt the urgent need to focus on my mind, body, and overall health for my daughter. For years, I had hidden my body away and struggled with deep image insecurities due to my brush with death in 2003. After defeating Necrotizing Fasciitis, I no longer knew my body. I had scars and massive changes in my overall shape. But after having my daughter, I knew that wasn’t the person I wanted to be for her. I trained for and ran marathons. I did the at-home workout programs. I did the nutrition programs. I did it all. But it wasn’t until I found the barbell that I found the fire burning deep inside. A piece of me I never knew existed flared into life, and I became obsessed with making this newfound hobby my lifestyle and my mission.

 

My mission is to help others find that same fire for self-improvement, whether with the barbell like me; or simply feeling strong, more powerful, and more confident.

Shapes are just that - shapes! No matter your fitness level, even if you’re starting out or starting over, we are here to help you achieve your goals. We love helping beginners just as much as anyone else. Women, men, even youth! (We specialize in youth from 8-18). Want to improve your golf game? Want to learn to use a barbell for the first time? Want to tackle some big fears? Never stepped foot in a gym before? Have an injury or physical limitation that you want to move better with? We got you! 

Because of the personal nature of our coaching, our training will look very different from one person to the next. We will evaluate your goals, fitness level, and what you enjoy to develop the best programming for you! We have the passion and experience to work with YOU! Whether you want to improve your overall quality of life and feel better in your body, lift weights for the first time, learn new skills, improve cardiovascular health, or hit new personal records. We believe there’s no better stress relief than a great workout!

We LOVE functional fitness, resistance training, weightlifting, Olympic lifting, sports performance, and balance/stability training. We believe the key to longevity is a functional body that can move and have fun and be strong. YES, we do cardio, but if you're looking for 45 minutes of burpees or a cardio machine, we are not it.  

At Phoenix Training, we work as a team. In doing so, we can better accommodate any changes to your schedule. If you prefer consistency with one trainer at a particular time slot, we got you. Have a flexible schedule and like working with different trainers? We do that, too! Our trainers regularly communicate about clients, their goals, and their progress, so you can be sure whomever you work with will be up to date with your specific programming and progress.

Comfortable clothes, clean sneakers, and an open mind! While we recommend bringing water with you, we have complimentary water and sweat towels.  We also have a fully stocked bathroom and shower in case you need to change or de-sweat before your next meeting or appointment. 

We also always have shirts, energy drinks, protein shakes, and snacks for purchase!

During your first session, we will walk you through a fitness assessment and health history to better personalize your experience. We will chat about your goals, your time investment, and how we can best serve you to meet your needs. While there will be more talking and repetition during this assessment, you will definitely feel like you’ve had a workout!

This session is the perfect time to discuss old injuries, health concerns, range of motion or chronic pain issues, etc, with your trainer. We would rather have too much information than not enough. If you are in doubt, tell your trainer. Our studio provides a semi-private to private environment to help you feel as comfortable as possible. From there, we will make a training plan for you and talk about nutrition, sleep, stress, and all those other ingredients that are part of the secret sauce of success! Our goal is for you to leave feeling excited, a little sweaty, and most of all, ENCOURAGED. Your courage brought you in the door - that’s something to celebrate! Now let’s tackle those GAINS!

Everyone has a place at Phoenix Training, and that includes your kids! If you don’t have childcare, your kids are welcome at the studio in with free internet access, art supplies, and toys. We never want kids to be the EXCUSE for missing your workout. We want them to be the REASON you come workout. We understand some days it just means they need to come with you. 

For some children, being with their parents might be more enjoyable (and for the parents too!).  In that case, we are happy to do a parent-child duo session for the same price as your regular session.  

(Please note, Phoenix Training and staff are not responsible for your child’s safety. We do our best to provide a safe and fun environment for kids, but all parents must sign a liability waiver for any children they may bring.)

BARBELL CLASS: Hosted multiple days per week, this class teaches traditional powerlifting movements with the barbell while increasing your athletic ability and endurance.  Expect to get stronger, more fit, and have a ton of fun. Each class throughout the week will have a different focus, so feel free to come to them as often as you'd like.  Suitable for all fitness levels, although if you'd like extra guidance we recommend at least one session with us one-on-one to learn the basics of each lift before diving in.  Contact us if you want some guidance!

YOGA FOR WEIGHTLIFTERS CLASS: A restorative yoga practice to target those muscle groups we tend to work hard throughout the week as active adults.  Also perfect for those of us feeling extra stress, tension, and tightness.  Suitable for all mobility and fitness levels.  If you have a yoga mat, please bring it.  If you don't, no worries, we have some extras! 

NUTRITION AND LIFESTYLE COACHING: For those who want a more holistic approach to their health goals. Whether you're trying to lose weight, want to gain some mass, or simply feel better overall, we offer coaching packages as an add-on service or a stand-alone option.  Coaching can be done in person or remotely. Please contact us for more details. Every nutrition and lifestyle program is developed according to your specific needs and goals.

OPEN GYM: If you are a personal training client, you are welcome to use our facility during our open gym hours for a nominal add-on price.  No appointment needed, but we do ask that you give us a heads up so we can make sure someone is in the gym or grant you keyless access.

FITNESS PROGRAMMING: For those clients that want to see us every day but can't, or clients who want to take their fitness results to the next level, we offer monthly personalized programming.  We work around WHERE you workout (be it at Phoenix, at home, or at another gym), WHAT equipment you have access to, what your GOALS are, and how much TIME you want to spend to design an ever-evolving program just for you. Contact us to get started!

SEMI PRIVATE TRAINING: We offer semi-private training sessions at your request. Have a bestie or partner you like to workout with? Someone who challenges you and brings out the best in you? Let’s get you booked together! We will customize the workouts based on the number in your party, fitness levels, and goals as best as we can to accommodate each person in your group. Pricing may vary.

We would love for you to see the gym, get a feel for our environment, discuss your goals, previous experience, and tell us about yourself! We'll match you with a coach (or team of coaches), a schedule that works for you, and create a plan based on your goals. Consultations last approximately 30 minutes and do not involve any exercising.
